Safety & Quality Coordinator

Mabey Bridge & Shore is seeking an experienced Safety and Quality Coordinator for our Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania location.

 


Summary: Develop, implement and enforce comprehensive safety and quality programs and initiatives which support continuous improvement and ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Develop, standardize, coordinate and enforce the Company-wide written safety programs and procedures designed to promote safe work practices and prevent losses. The safety programs will achieve and maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local codes and regulations.
  • Develop, standardize, coordinate and enforce the Company-wide written quality programs and Standard Operating Procedures designed to define a universal method of conducting business functions throughout the company and providing an opportunity for continual improvement.
  • Identify, develop and implement safety and quality initiatives in support of business needs.
  • Travel to satellite facilities to conduct inspections, audits, assessments and investigations in conjunction with written safety and quality programs to facilitate the promotion of continuous improvement.
  • Analyze and report safety and quality performance metrics; monitor a variety of programs and reports on departmental activities as directed by the Manager.
  • Responsible for determining and implementing procedures and behavioral applications that drive incident reduction and/or improves company operating efficiency.
  • Measure and monitor impacts in conformance with our policy and government regulations.
  • Identify, evaluate, and control hazards associated with new equipment/processes and modifications, prior to the operation of the equipment/processes.
  • Create a safe and efficient work environment and adherence to the Company’s Health and Safety and Quality programs by attending meetings, conferences and seminars.

 


 

Requirements

Technical Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge in developing and conducting employee training on safety and quality topics.
  • Strong knowledge in administration of OSHA regulations and ISO concepts including interpretations and implementation of defined standards.
  • Strong oral, written communication and analytical skills.

 

Behavioral Skills:

 

  • Ability to interact with all individuals at all organizational levels; conducts self in professional manner and applies active communication skills.
  • Ability to apply strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and manage multiple priorities; sets priorities in an efficient manner and optimizes use of time and resources to achieve desired results.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and to respond effectively to sensitive and confidential information and matters.

 


EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (in Health/Safety/Environmental Sciences or related discipline preferred).
  • 5-7 years related experience.
  • Education or Experience in ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS18001 concepts or environments.
  • Training certifications a plus (Forklift, ISO, CSP, CHST, OHST, CSM, LSP)
