Mabey Bridge & Shore, Inc. is seeking an experienced Transportation Manager to improve transportation operations and efficiencies and supervise our Fleet. This position is based out of our Headquarters office in Elkridge, Maryland.
This person will be responsible for performing transportation and fleet analysis. Candidate must be able to prepare transportation proposals and presentations to improve efficiencies and provide cost management to present to senior management. The ideal candidate should possess high degree of professionalism and attention-to-detail, solid communication skills and strong computer skills. Duties to include:
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Coordinates shipping movements between locations throughout the US.
- Analyses shipping data, both between locations and to jobs, to recommend most efficient use of current fleet.
- Makes recommendations for the transport makeup (mix of company vehicles and outside carriers) at each location.
- Analyses usage data to make recommendations for the type of transport to be owned at each location.
- Develops and coordinates elements of a transportation plan, including research and analysis of component areas such as outside vendors, common carriers and company-owned vehicles.
- Establishes measurement programs and analyzes samples to develop standards for transport utilization.
- Studies the use and operation of transportation in order to assist in long-range transportation planning and the analysis of related impacts and costs.
- Recommends procedures to improve efficiency.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
Requirements:
- At least an Associate’s degree in Business or similar. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3-5 years experience in Transportation, DOT, or Logistics (preferably in the construction market).
- Must live within commutable distance to our Headquarters in Elkridge, Maryland.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Capable of preserving confidential or sensitive information.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 2003 & 2007 programs (specifically Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint), as well as, internet resources and inventory control software.
